the Erena Terakubo Trio
Lady Got Chops Women's History Month Music Festival presents the Erena Terakubo Trio. Erena Terakubo was born in Sapporo, Japan and began playing the alto saxophone with musicians including Herbie Hancock when she was attending Sapporo Junior Jazz Orchedtra. Her first album, "North Bird" with Kenny Barron , Christian McBride , Lee Pearson , and Peter Bernstein reached no.1 on the Japanese jazz charts and was awarded Swing Journal's Gold Disc. In 2011, 2013 and 2015 Terakubo recorded and released her next three CDs, "New York Attitude", "Burkina" and "A Time For Love." Erena has performed in the Tokyo Jazz Festival and plays clubs such as Smalls, Zinc Bar, The Kitano, and The 55 bar etc. The LGC Festival is produced by Kim Clarke.
