His Name's Not Indian Joe
[Show dates: July 11-22, times vary] His Name’s Not Indian Joe is a folk musical created by Tony-Nominee Elizabeth A. Davis (Once) and directed by Emmy-Winner Don Scardino (30 Rock). The musical is based on true events and takes us through the journey of a Choctaw homeless man looking for a fight and finding family along the way. This unlikely love triangle takes us from the streets of Waco, TX to the streets of New York City and asks the question, “Where is home?” and how high is the price to find that answer. The sound of His Name’s Not Indian Joe weaves acoustic instrumentation together with strains of industrial pop staring down racism, stereotyping, and reminding us proximity is power in the healing process.
