AFLAC VOLUNTARY PLANS FOR BUSINESS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES & INDIVIDUALS Regarding the possibility of offering additional benefits at minimal cost to Chamber members, employers can sponsor voluntary (employee paid) payroll deduction programs. We are specialists in these voluntary programs. We have implemented them to numerous clients’ benefits packages whereas enrollment was astounding. Since these are voluntary benefits, they can also be purchased individually, except for Short-Term Disability which must be purchased through the employer. The plans include: We can implement in conjunction with the above plans a cafeteria plan regulated by Section 125 if employers do not have one currently in place. This means that the employees do not pay federal, state or social security taxes on these dollars. As the employer you also save on the related payroll taxes. For every dollar your employees run through the Section 125 plan, the employers save the social Security tax (FICA and Medicare). This is one of the few benefits that can be a “no cost” benefit. The savings of social security taxes offset most, if not all costs of a Section 125 plan. Benefits are paid regardless of any other insurance you may have. You can use the money where you need it most to help minimize the financial impact of the unexpected costs you may incur when an illness or accident strikes. Benefits are paid directly to you unless you assign them to a doctor or hospital. Understanding The Risk.....
